Why are immunizations important?

More than one-fourth of the kids in Texas do not receive the shots they need by age two. These shots prevent the spread of contagious and life-threatening diseases. You can protect your family by keeping all shots up-to-date.

Am I eligible for immunizations from the City of Austin?

You can get shots for you and your children even if you don’t have insurance. If you’re uninsured or on Medicaid, we provide shots through 2 programs: Shots for Tots and Big Shots.

If you have health insurance, you can make an appointment for with a private doctor or healthcare clinic for your immunizations.

Child immunizations requirements

The Texas Department of State Health Services requires kids to get certain immunizations before they attend school or childcare facilities.

Shot records

We keep records of immunizations that you received at public health clinics in Austin and Travis County, including those you received through the Shots for Tots and Big Shots programs.
